Strength Testing & Safety
We design dog walk-wear that puts dogs first: comfortable to wear, secure under tension and straightforward for humans to use, with considered style in every collection.
We believe all dog walk-wear should be strength tested. That’s why our collars, harnesses and leads are independently lab tested in the UK to recognised mechanical standards such as BS 5131-5.11:1981. Testing is carried out on finished products, not just components, so you can be confident your dog’s kit has been assessed as a complete system.
Wyld Cub products are designed for everyday walks, training and adventures with your dog, but they are not a tool to manage extreme pulling, reactivity or aggression on their own. It's important to seek professional advice from registered dog trainers to ensure your dogs individual needs are supported.
Strength testing offers reassurance that our hardware, webbing and construction are built to withstand forces well beyond typical daily use when fitted and used correctly. It means you can focus on enjoying the walk, knowing your dog’s collar, harness and lead have been through far more than a quick in-house pull test.
Approximate test results for our current range:
- Harness buckles tested up to 210 kg, D-rings up to 400 kg
- Collar buckles tested up to 194 kg, D-rings up to 180 kg
- Lead D-rings tested to over 500 kg, swivel clips up to 169 kg
These figures come from controlled laboratory tests on new products and are used to guide our design and quality standards.
Strength testing does not make a collar or harness indestructible. Regular wear, environmental and cleaning cycles will always subject the products to wear and tear. We always recommend checking your dog’s kit regularly for signs of wear or damage and replacing it when needed. Never use any item that is broken or damaged.
